So tonight Dave and I were playing Rock Band (which we just got for the Wii and it’s awesome, btw) and we do the first song, which is fun but the volume was pretty low, so Dave turns it up. Next song. SCREAMING suddenly comes from Oona, who was fast asleep in her little alcove… Absolute, utter indignation. “WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING? WHY IS IT SO LOUD IN HERE? I WAS SLEEPING, THIS IS SCARY!!” Poor little thing, big open mouthed frown/scream at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her face. I felt so horribly guilty!!! And it still makes my heart want to burst open at how insanely cute she was. She was so mad!!!

She definitely understands…
Today Dave and I were at storage packing up our gear for Burning Man, and as expected, Oona got a little fussy after a while. In fact, not only did she get fussy, but after bouncing her, changing her diaper and trying to play with her, she really began to cry… So I started making her a bottle, but clearly I was taking too long, cause her stress level increased and crying was turning to screaming – until I said “Oona, I’m making you a bottle” and she stopped crying, tilted her head to the side, and patiently waited.

She kissed me!
I play this game with Oona daily which I call Kiss Attack. I say “I’m… going… to… kissyourcheeks” and kiss her cheeks really fast on both sides. She squeals and looks like she can’t stand it she’s so happy.
So the last few times I played Kiss Attack with her, I saw that she kept trying to get me back. So yesterday I let her. She grabbed my hair and pulled my face to her, opened her mouth wide, and just pressed her mouth up against my cheek and held it… A big wet, slimy, licky kiss from my cheek up to my eye.

Working on Crawling
I think she may have it soon, though it’s supposedly way too early… But she can prop herself up on her elbows, and she’s moving her knees in and out… She BADLY wants to move around. I am certainly in no rush!
Oh, and this weekend she started to suck her thumb. CUTE.

Schedule for a Rainy Monday
- 3am – woke to eat
- 4am – finished eating, snuggled a bit, fell asleep in mom + dad’s bed
- 6am – morning snack, more snuggling
- 8:45am – dad says goodbye and gets a HUGE smile. falls back to sleep snuggling with mom
- 9-11am – breakfast and making giggly faces at mom – is a good girl while mom showers.
- 11:30-1:30pm – trek to new mom’s group in the rain, only 5 month old william and his mom are there, he’s looking like a little man!
- 2pm – go to post office and mom argues with the staff who won’t let her use the elevator as it’s only for handicapped people. mom loses argument and has to slowly slog the stroller down (and then back up) two flights of stairs, one step at a time. no one offers to help.
- 4pm – oona + mom have lunch while watching super-talented kids on oprah… won over by the 2 year old who knows where all the countries are on the map and likes clapping at the audience.
- 5pm – finish eating and nap time. mom tries to take a bath but has to get out 4 times to replace pacifier until sleep finally comes at 6pm.
- 8pm – dad comes home and oona is VERY happy! lots of smiles and intense staring and making faces.
- 8:30pm – dad gives oona dinner
- 9:30pm – dinner’s finished and dad swaddles her up, and puts her to bed.

Hands, Hands Everywhere!
Yesterday Oona found her hand.
We were in a taxi on our way downtown and she was facing me in her carseat. She didn’t like the ride much and was softly pleading “uh-nAY!” and “M-gAH!” at me. Then as she looked down, she was struck dumb. One teeny little balled up fist was moving in front of her face. “What’s THAT???”
