Wearing a hand-me-down from Liberty.

Lotsa hanging out, long walks, dancing and singing… A good weekend with everyone home!
So it started out as an imitation of “You Monkeys You” from the book Caps for Sale. She’d make a little L out of her thumb and first finger and shake her fist and say “doh doh doh”…
Now the “doh’s” have turned into full blown No’s, and she walks around going “no no no no no” and shakes her head and wags her finger in the air. Sometimes she even does it to us, but mostly she’s (I think) reminding herself what she’s not allowed to do. So she’ll sit on the sofa and try to reach the lamp, where I always say “Oona, no thank you!” but now I see her beat me to it — I’ll see her shaking her head saying “No. No.” as she’s reaching for the lamp. hehehee.
The best though was about a week ago… She’s also in a phase where she likes to pick up her bowl and dump the contents of her dinner on the floor. I usually get her to stop before it goes too far, but the other day she was particularly aggressive about it and I gave her a very serious, very stern NO! and snapped my finger at her. And what did she do? She furrowed her brow, gave me the look of death evil baby face, and immitating me, yelled NO! back at me, all the while shaking her whole arm, shoulder and finger at me with this teenaged “No you di’nt, bitch!” getto move. When she saw my stunned expression she burst out laughing!! A big hysterical belly laugh. And then the little fucker threw a piece of cheese at me! My mouth was hanging open, and then I burst out laughing too and tried to get my stern face back on. But she was just so damned cute!!!! No use at all. She’s gonna walk all over me, I can see it now.
Oh thank God for this milestone! After months of struggling with wiggling and crying and closed fists and pulling fingers, today Oona finally let me cut her nails!
We were reading a story and I looked at her, paused, and I asked her if I could cut her nails. She looked at me with a little expectant smile, so I thought “hmm, maybe this will work” and went to get the clippers. And suddenly upon taking her hand in mine, her first little index finger popped out! I cheered and clapped after each finger and she seemed very pleased with herself.
Sorry for being down and out for so long, but I’ve finally fixed the broken blog. I’ll do my best to fill in some of the gaps since the last post two months ago.
In a nutshell, she’s gone from a sweet baby to full on, intense toddler!
Walking. Talking. Screaming. Pointing. Climbing.
And cutest of all, scowling!!!
Oona has started pointing at everything! So we’ve been naming everything for her.
She can squat down and touch her toes when you say “where are oona’s toes” and she drums her fingers on her temples when you say “where’s oona’s head”. When you say “where’s oona’s belly” though, she also drums her fingers on her temples, but we’re working on that.
VERY close to walking. Should be any day now.
Her coughing has been all gone after starting Pulmicort, but for some reason she’s been coughing again this week. Hopefully it’ll just go away.
Trying to get around a door, Oona pulled it towards herself with such great force that she created this lump, the size of a golf ball. She’s just too strong for her own good! Note the purple bruise forming down the middle of it. Wah. Poor little girl. 🙁

Featured presents include a rocking lamb, wood scooter (seen wrapped in its entirety) and a wrapped box of tissues, which as expected was the favorite.

Oona’s in a big kissing phase these days. She kissed all her cousins over Thanksgiving, even ones she just met. Yesterday she was crawling up to the mirror and looking at herself, and then leaned in to kiss the mirror! And today she ripped up a magazine and looked at one page with a model on it, and touched the model’s cheek, then kissed it! She’s just the sweetest little girl!
