A Weekend of Firsts

This weekend we drove down to PA for Jeff + Angela’s wedding. Oona was great, very well behaved, interested, and extremely alert. It was the first time she took a long car ride, was all dressed up, saw a church, went to a wedding, and heard organ music. She managed the crowd well, and didn’t get upset, though she did have a little trouble falling asleep there… But she slept well once we got to her Grandpax and Grammy’s house.

Saturday we drove to Philly and she stayed in her first hotel room, which she seemed to like because *drumroll please* she rolled over for the first time! She was on her belly on the bed and worked sooo hard to just FLIP herself like a pancake. It was so cute, so we did it again. FLIP! Then she slept in the middle of the king sized bed, and was very happy having some quiet time between us. In the morning we drove to Pottstown where she met her Great Grand Pop and Great Aunt Pat. Photo to be posted later.

In the mean time, here are some cute photos from the hotel. SO alert!! She’s looking more grown up every day.

Oh yeah, sleepin’ through the night!

So this morning when I woke up around 9:30am, I realized that I hadn’t heard from Oona all night… My first thought was mild panic – is she still alive?? But when I went into her room, to my surprise and delight, she was just waking up. So I leaned in and whispered “Good Morning Oona!” and her eyes snapped open and she flashed me a HUGE grin. “Morning Mom, what are you doing here??”

Major milestone!! Oona slept through the night for the first time ever!! She often goes 5 hours at a stretch, which is technically sleeping through the night according to the childcare books, but c’mon, how can you REALLY consider it sleeping through the night if they wake up at 4am?

Congratulations Oona, and welcome to the delicious world of a good night sleep!

Oona’s first telepresence experience

This afternoon, at the Smoochdome meeting, Oona joined all the geeks in engaging in telepresence by communicating with fellow campmember Bronwyn Patience Biernat Goldberg through Josh Goldberg’s Skype. It was a landmark moment in her young life, as she begins to grasp the fundamental difference between bits and atoms, and learns to use the mouse with her foot. Thanks to Moish for capturing the moment!

Sick Girl

Poor little thing caught my cold. She’s got the sniffles and had a slight fever today, and wakes up at the slightest sound… On the up side, she showed interest in the rattle on her swing for the first time.

Hands, Hands Everywhere!

Yesterday Oona found her hand.

We were in a taxi on our way downtown and she was facing me in her carseat. She didn’t like the ride much and was softly pleading “uh-nAY!” and “M-gAH!” at me. Then as she looked down, she was struck dumb. One teeny little balled up fist was moving in front of her face. “What’s THAT???”
